Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Year 2. The children have settled in brilliantly and have had a great first week. What a lovely class I have!
Our Topic Plans has been posted on the class page of the website outlining the work we will be covering this half term. Our class topic is Pirates.
Snacks/Water Bottles/Coats
Please could children bring in a snack/ named snack box and named water bottle each day. We also have an afternoon fruit snack provided by school.
It would be helpful if children could bring a named jumper and coat to school each day as the weather at this time of year can be very changeable.
PE
PE will take place on Tuesday and Friday. Please could children come to school in their PE kit. Please ensure that tracksuit tops are named.
Homework
Homework is given out on a Friday and should be returned by the following Thursday. If your child completes the homework before then, please send it. Homework varies each week but will comprise of a piece of Numeracy work and a piece of weekly Literacy (including grammar and reading comprehension work) This may sometimes take the form of web based learning. Inside the front of the homework books are the passwords you need for the various online learning programmes that we may use throughout the year. Spellings of common exception words and phonics patterns will be sent home at least twice a half term.
Reading Books
Your child should have brought a reading book and reading record home. Inside the front cover, you will find a slip stating the day your child will read in school. However, reading books should be brought into school daily. Please feel free to write in this reading record. There will be more information about reading sent home in the next few weeks.
