Reception children had an absolutely fantastic morning in Class 1 on Thursday with Miss Sanderson and were joined by the lovely Mrs Meeking, Mr Dee and Mrs Smith so that things felt a little more familiar for them. We shared interesting facts about ourselves, read stories and created some beautiful crafts. We thought about how the children are ready to spread their wings and make the exciting journey to Year 1 and likened this to a caterpillar getting ready to turn into a butterfly. They each made a beautiful collage butterfly to represent this.
The children were all incredibly respectful and were a pleasure to welcome into the classroom, I must say setting a very good example of what we can come to expect in September! We finished off the session by 'making a wish for Year 1', before placing our wish tokens into the jar. The children were all encouraged to think of something they really wanted to work hard at, or enjoy in Year 1 and their hopes and dreams for the coming year.
At the end of the year (in July 2026!) the children will receive their wish token as a memento of their time and who knows... Maybe their wishes will have come true!
