Flower Display for the Queen

Reception spent some time thinking and remembering the Queen, in a gentle and simple way. The children each decorated a flower, which we used to create a display in our classroom. One child commented, "I think the Queen will like our flowers. She can still see them in heaven."

The children also created a wax-crayon rubbing of a penny. They listened to this poem ...

 Here’s a special penny,
The best you’ve ever seen.
It shows a very special lady
Who used to be our Queen.

For 70 years she served us,
She simply was the best.
But now the time has come
For her, in peace, to rest.

So keep this special penny,
For all the years to come.
To remember our Queen fondly
And all the good she’s done.

Finally, the children watched the video of Paddington Bear meeting the Queen, during her Platinum Jubilee celebrations - they thought this was very funny!

We were so proud of how reflective and respectful all of the children were in these special activities.
