Year 6 Rivers

Year 6 have settled well into their first Geography topic this year, learning about the journey of a river - from source to mouth. We began with some problematic jigsaws and a quiz about features of a river. We had great fun and all of the children really got stuck in. We next learned about the three different parts of a river's course - the upper, middle and lower courses. The children had to work as a team to recreate the courses using images and did a great job of using observation skills and the information they had learned up to now about land and river features...

I have been very impressed with the level of discussion and just how much the children have been able to share already, not to mention the carefully drawn diagrams we began last lesson. We are working our way up to making scale models of a river course - knowing how much they've impressed me so far, I don't doubt we'll have some excellent work to show you! Well done year 6 : ) Miss Sanderson.
