Welcome to Embsay Church of England Primary School

Yorkshire Causeway School Trust's logo

Embsay CE Primary School is part of Yorkshire Causeway Schools Trust, working alongside other schools in the Trust to provide a high‑quality education rooted in strong values and local identity. As a Trust school, some information on our website such as policies and statutory details, including admissions reflects Trust‑wide arrangements, while the day‑to‑day life of our school continues to be shaped by the needs of our children, families and local community.

Over time, you may notice some updates to our website and documentation as Trust‑wide information is aligned and refreshed. These changes are planned and managed carefully, and we are committed to keeping information clear, accurate and accessible.

Embsay Church of England Primary School is a place where families know their children are cared for and truly placed at the heart of all we do. As Headteacher, I am deeply committed to our shared vision of working together to develop respectful individuals with a lifelong love of learning, underpinned by our core values of respect, care, resilience and friendship.

Our strong Christian ethos, rooted in the belief of “Life in all its fullness” (John 10:10), encourages every member of our community to shine with hope, both now and for the future.

Children remain at the centre of every decision we make. By listening carefully to staff, pupils and families, I work alongside a highly dedicated team to ensure every child receives a great education and experiences school as a positive, enriching and exciting place to learn. From the moment children join us, we want them to thrive and feel a strong sense of belonging within our inclusive and supportive community.

Our most recent Ofsted inspection noted that “Pupils enjoy coming to school, are happy and proud to represent their school,” and praised how the early years curriculum carefully considers what the youngest children need to know and when (March 2025). SIAMS inspection findings (November 2024) also recognised relationships as a significant strength of the school, highlighting a tangible culture of care where wellbeing and mental health are clearly prioritised.

We place great value on positive partnerships with parents and carers, working together to enrich our children’s lives academically, socially and spiritually. We also enjoy close links with St Mary’s Church in the village and reflect our Christian values throughout the everyday life of the school.

I warmly invite you to visit and see for yourself what a welcoming, caring and nurturing school Embsay truly is. If you would like to book a visit, please contact us on 01756 793426. We look forward to meeting you.
