A very warm welcome to Embsay CE Primary School. We are a small one-form-entry school in the heart of Embsay village, with approximately 200 children on roll.
We are currently a maintained school within the local authority and are looking forward to hopefully academising with Yorkshire Causeway Schools Trust later in Spring Term 2026. I am delighted to be leading our school community into this next chapter.

Children are at the heart of every decision we make. By listening carefully to staff, pupils and families, I work alongside a highly dedicated team to ensure every child receives a great education and experiences school as a positive and exciting place to learn. From the moment they join us, we want all children to thrive and feel a strong sense of belonging within our inclusive community.
Our recent Ofsted inspection noted that, “Pupils enjoy coming to school, are happy and proud to represent their school,” and that the early years curriculum carefully considers what the youngest children need to know and when (March 2025). SIAMS inspection findings (November 2024) also recognised relationships as a strength of the school, highlighting a tangible culture of care where wellbeing and mental health are prioritised.
We value positive partnerships with parents and carers, working together to enrich our children’s lives academically, socially and spiritually. We have close links with St Mary’s Church in the village and reflect Christian values in everyday life of the school.
