Dear Parent/Carer

As part of our History topic on The Romans, Year 4 will be participating in a ‘Romans in Craven’ workshop at the Craven Museum, Skipton on Wednesday 24th April 2024.

After registration, the class will set off from school to walk to the museum and return before the end of the school day. Your child will need to wear sensible, comfortable footwear and a waterproof coat. Should it be hot and sunny, then a hat and suncream will also be needed. We will be having lunch at the museum, so a packed lunch, a fruit snack and a water bottle will be required in a small back-pack. If your child normally has a school dinner, please ensure it is cancelled on the School Grid website.

Under the terms of the Education Reform Act 1988 the school is not allowed to make a charge for this activity, but we are permitted to ask for contributions, and the governors have authorised us to do so. I am sure you will understand that we cannot afford to pay for this visit from within the funds available to us so may I ask you, therefore, if you would be willing to make a voluntary contribution of £2.82 towards the cost of the activity. No child will be excluded if his or her parent does not make this contribution, however if insufficient voluntary contributions are received regrettably the activity will not go ahead.  Payment is through ParentPay and should be made by 10th April 2024. When using this online payment system, you are automatically consenting to your child participating in this activity.

I feel sure that the children will benefit both educationally and socially and I am sure that you will want to help us to run the event.

If you would like any more information about the trip, please do not hesitate to contact me via the school office.

Regards

Mrs Speak
