To mark the one year anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine, the children created a Dove, inspired by the work of a Ukrainian artist, Maria Prymachenko. Using blue and yellow coloured pens, the children created patterns on their paper dove in the style of Maria and Ukrainian Folk Art.
The children also watched a short animation, 'Home,' which has been created by Save The Children and Aardman Animations. It was inspired by the real-life stories of Refugee children from Ukraine, Afghanistan, Yemen and Syria. The children watched it carefully and showed real empathy and compassion as they discussed it together.
The children's Doves are now on display in our classroom.
