Maths - square and cube numbers

Year 6 have certainly had a busy first week back at school! We picked up where we left off with The Highwayman, and spent some time looking at vocabulary in the poem, before creating our own glossaries. The children then helped to build a class word bank about what The Highwayman might see and think if he were to look in a mirror at his own reflection - both in terms of his appearance and inner thoughts. They then used the fantastic word bank to create a short first person paragraph - I was very impressed with some of the ways in which the children constructed their sentences and used the collated vocabulary -  as well as adding more of their own.

We then had fun in Maths exploring square and cube numbers - something we intend to practise a little more, however the children were very eager to explore how square numbers help us to find cube numbers. Good work Year 6!
