YOUNG VOICES – FINAL REMINDERS AND EXTRA INFORMATION!

Dear Parents / Carers,

Just a few reminders / extra bits of information which we didn’t have to share with you last week!

Seating

We have now been allocated our seating in the Arena. We will be seated in Block 119, Rows J, K, L and M. Our seats will be visible from your seating (Block A) and are situated behind the main stage so it should be a great place for the children to be fully absorbed in the concert.

We will try and put a banner up to help you spot us but, if we can’t do this, we do have Glow Wands for all of our children to wave at you as you arrive so, hopefully, you’ll spot us.

Food and Drink

Just a reminder that …

  • The children will need 2 Packed Meals for the day – one for Lunch and one for Tea. Please pack these meals in 2 separate containers and be mindful that space on the coach and in the arena will be limited.
  • We cannot heat up any food in the Arena so hot / warm foods in thermal flasks are probably not a suitable option.
  • The children will need enough Drink (Water / Juice but no fizzy drinks, please) for the whole day and evening. We cannot take Glass Bottles into the Arena and they will be confiscated by Security.
  • The children can bring Snacks for the whole day and evening – including a sensible amount of Sweeties if you’re happy to provide them!
  • The children will have a playtime and Snack before we leave school on Monday morning. Please send them with a fruit snack if they usually have one.
  • School has a Nut Free Policy and no nuts should be included in your child’s Snacks and Meals.
  • You need to cancel your child’s School Meal on Monday (and Tuesday if they are staying at home on Tuesday morning) or you will be charged for it.
  • Your child does not need to bring their Mobile Phones with them on the day of the Concert. We will not be taking them to Manchester with us and, therefore, they will be left in school overnight.

Clothing

Just a reminder that the children need to wear …

  • their ‘Young Voices’ T-Shirt (if they have one) OR a plain, white t-shirt / polo shirt / shirt. Please ensure there are no logos (including our school logo) on the plain white t-shirt they may wear
  • a Blue Embsay School Jumper / Cardigan over the top of their T-Shirts
  • dark Coloured School Trousers / School Skirts / Leggings / Shorts or Joggers. No Jeans, please
  • comfortable, sensible Trainers / Shoes / Boots
  • a Coat (really important at the end of the Concert when we will be walking from the Arena to the Coach parking)
  • The children need to bring their Young Voices Mini Torch with them too, if they have one

Bag

The children need to bring all their belongings in one bag. It would be preferable / advisable that this is a smaller, Drawstring-style Bag and NOT a Rucksack.

Medication

If your child has an Asthma Inhaler or any other Medication kept in school, we will take this with us on Monday and will collect it from the classroom on Monday morning.

If your child needs Travel Sickness Medication or any other Medication on Monday, we will also take this with us (Mrs Formoso will keep this in her bag until required) BUT you must complete a Medication Form (available from the School Office) on or (preferably) before Monday. If we don’t have the complete Medication Form, unfortunately we won’t be able to administer any medication.

Collection At The End of The Day / Night

We will text you when we are on the Coach back to Embsay to give you an approximate time when we expect to be back in the Village Hall Car Park. It may come up as a ‘Withheld Number’ but it is us! We will use the Contact Number of the first person on our School Contact List so please ensure you check your phone regularly for updates!

Young Voices Concert Video

A Video of our ‘Young Voices’ Concert on Monday evening will be available to buy via the following link: https://yv24film.co.uk It costs £12.99 and is a web-based Video initially. It would then be available for you to download after 6 months

Parent Information – Attending The Concert Reminders

  • doors to the Manchester AO Arena open at 6:00pm
  • please allow enough time to pass through Security Checks. Please only bring essential items with you in a small handbag or a small drawstring bag
  • the Concert starts at 7:00pm promptly and will end at 8:45pm
  • you may wish to bring (small) Binoculars so you can spot your child in the choir
  • please don’t bring Video Equipment, SLR Cameras with large lenses or any other Prohibited Items listed in the Manchester AO Arena website with you

One last thing …

This was the final point on a very long email of checklists / information sent to us from ‘Young Voices’ yesterday and we thought it was nice to share …

“Oh, and just one last thing. Please bring joy, happiness, smiling faces and singing voices. It going to be one big celebration!”

We’ll see you on Monday – we can’t wait!

Mrs Formoso and Mrs Pearce
