Smartie the Penguin

It was 'Safer Internet Day' on Tuesday 7th February and so the children in Reception learned about how to stay safe when they access the internet via Tablets, iPads, phones, computers and laptops.

The children listened to the Childnet story of 'Smartie the Penguin' and discussed the different choices Smartie made whilst he played online. They learned about Smartie's special rhyme which he used when he had a problem...

"Before you tap and click,

You need to stop and think.

And tell someone."

The children thought this was a good rhyme of rules and agreed that they would try to remember it when they played online at home or school.

Later, the children listened to the story of 'The Pop-Up Gremlins' too.

Further information to support your child whilst they play online can be found in various places, including the internetmatters.org website.
