English

In Literacy we will be looking the classic poem The Spider and the Fly. We will be collecting descriptive language and using this to write our own poems. Our class novel for this half term is The Boy Who Grew Dragons. Inspired by this, the children will write their own stories. We will continue to learn a variety of punctuation and grammar terms. Children will practise their cursive handwriting and investigate spelling patterns throughout the week.

We will then move onto mass and capacity where the children will revisit scales and learn to identify the size of different intervals. We will be consolidating our addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills during our speed drill activities and interactive games.

Science

This term the children will identify and describe the functions of the different parts of plants. They will explore what plants need for life and growth. Children will then complete an investigation to see how water is transported through plants. Children will also look at seeds and explore the different ways that plants disperse their seeds.

Geography

We will be using OS maps to understand what the land in our local area is used for. We will be posing questions to investigate and offering explanations for our findings.
